A leading international voice in New Testament scholarship, Ian Boxall is a British-Irish scholar with expertise in the Gospel of Matthew and the Book of Revelation.  With a career spanning the University of Oxford, The Catholic University of America, and Aquinas Institute of Theology,  his work investigates the 'afterlives' of these foundational texts, tracing their vibrant reception through two millennia of art, culture, and faith.

Experience

Researcher

Ian Boxall has an international reputation as a researcher in the New Testament and its reception, especially in the Book of Revelation, the Gospel of Matthew, and visual exegesis. 

Educator

He has more than thirty years' experience of teaching in higher education both in the United Kingdom and the USA, educating and mentoring undergraduates, seminarians, and postgraduates.

Mentor

His role as a mentor has been pivotal in shaping the academic careers and pastoral ministries of numerous students, instilling in them a passion for the New Testament writings.

Speaker

He speaks regularly to parish groups and interested non-specialists, seeking to communicate the findings of biblical scholarship to a wide audience.

Author

With a large number of academic publications, his work has contributed significantly to the academic discourse in New Testament, especially pertaining to the Gospel of Matthew, the Book of Revelation, and visual reception history.
